Edulantern.com - ASEAN Foundation invite all ASEAN youths to help shape the future by harnessing data to highlight key issues in ASEAN. If you are an ASEAN National above 16 years of age, and currently studying at a tertiary institution in Southeast Asia, you can join this competition and get attractive prizes.
The “ASEAN Data Science Explorers” (“Contest”) organised by the ASEAN Foundation (“Organiser”) and SAP Asia Pte Ltd (“Co-organiser”) is held for TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN (218) days commencing from 22 March 2018 at 00:01am SGT and ends on 25 October 2018 at 23:59pm SGT [(“Contest Period”]).
Benefits:
The winning team from each country will be given an all-expenses paid trip, including DSA (Daily Subsistence Allowance), shared accommodation, flight ticket, and transportation allowance as per ASEAN Foundation’s travel policy for team members to attend the regional competition.
Eligibility Criteria:
The Contest is open to individuals (“Participants”) who:
1. are nationals of ASEAN member countries (includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam);
2. are full-time tertiary students currently pursuing their Diploma / Undergraduate studies in one of the tertiary institutions in Southeast Asia (includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam);
3. are above the age of 16 at the start of the Contest Period. Parental consent is required for participants under the age of 18 (click here to download consent form);
4. have agreed and will adhere to the Terms and Conditions herein. By entering the competition, Participants confirm that they will be available to travel for regional competition that is taking place on 25 October 2018 in Singapore.
5. were not Top 3 finalists from National Finals/Virtual Finals in preceding years.
6. did not represent their country at the Regional Finals in preceding years.
Contest Rules:
1. There is no limit to the number of participating teams from each university.
2. Each team will consist of 2 members from the same university. All Participants must hold a valid passport in the event that they are chosen to travel down to Singapore for the regional competition.
3. Each team may submit a maximum of one (1) entry only. This entry will be used to judge for qualifying rounds to finals. No amendment is allowed after submission has closed.
4. The entry must be built by using SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) exclusively.
5. Each team must adhere to the submission guidelines stated.
6. Teams may use given data or data from other reliable sources (publicly accessible or via special permissions from the owner of the dataset) but they must be clearly acknowledged in the submission form.
7. All submissions must be in English.
8. All submitted material must be original and created by team members. Any previously published content used must be properly attributed to the original author.
9. Organizers reserve the right to determine the minimum number of submissions from each country required for a national competition to convene. Countries that do not meet this minimum number of submissions may be grouped into a cluster with other countries for a sub-regional final.
10. Team are expected to be able to commit to the entire competition period up to the regional finals. Replacement of team members will be considered on a case by case basis.
How to Apply:
To participate in this Contest, students must first register their team on the competition online application. After students register and get access to the SAP Analytics Cloud, they can start working on their storyboards using datasets provided in the competition webpage or other relevant datasets from other reliable sources. The storyboards will be submitted during the submission period.
